Welcome to my blog.

My name is Kate Kenzie and I live in East Yorkshire with my family, three troublesome dogs and a feisty ferret. I am a writer. Writer is a word I love because it gives legitimacy to my constant daydreaming and obsessive stationery buying. It is the ideal excuse to buy books – another one of my passions. The new bestseller you don’t have time to read is classed as research, isn’t it? And the book I bought purely for the delicious cover that sits pristine on my bookcase is needed for inspiration. My hope is one day I will be able to edit this page and add author.

What do I write?

I love reading contemporary fiction where people discover their strength and worth so they are ready to tackle any challenges ahead. My writing reflects this but often with a thread of magic or paranormal. Somehow it always seems to weave itself into the story somewhere. My work is set in East or North Yorkshire; I may not be Yorkshire born and bred but the sea and countryside have captured my heart.

A Blend of Magic is the first of the Mexenby series and is a magical romantic novel set in Whitby. It introduces Willow Anderson, a witch and proprietor of The Enchanted Emporium and her trusted Maine Coon, Vincent; falling in love with a stranger brings unexpected consequences to her door.

My current work in progress is set in the fictitious village of Mexenby, North Yorkshire and explores multi-generational friendships, family issues and Young Person’s Parkinson’s Disease as four women bond over adult ballet lessons and snapped knicker elastic.

What are my favourite books?

This is always difficult to answer because I am an avid reader of all genres; my favourite authors must be Milly Johnson, Dorothy Koomson, Jodi Picoult, Sarah Painter and I adore the world building of Deborah Harkness.
